Artist Statement

In my art, I achieve an emotional sanctuary, a brief respite from the chaos of life and the endless stretch of our dark, cold northern winters. I'm deeply influenced by the serene moments I experience alone in nature, a connection that's intensified by a year-round craving for natural light and sounds. Whether it's digital painting, wood carving or traditional canvas work, my art serves as my escape—and I hope it becomes yours too. Each piece is carefully crafted, reflecting the soft hues and textures found in nature, to bring a moment of calm and a splash of light into your world.

Bio

Rhonda Kilbourne, the creative force behind Kilbourne Gallery, seamlessly blends her passion for nature with her digital artistry. Growing up in northern Illinois and later moving to Ontario, Canada, Rhonda found solace kayaking the tranquil waters of the Canadian Shield and Georgian Bay. Her lifelong love for nature led her to a master’s degree focused on ecology and conservation. A cartographer by profession, her art is informed by a rich geographical understanding and a deep connection to the Canadian landscapes she calls home. Whether wandering the fields and forests on her acreage in Alberta or capturing nature's quiet moments on digital or traditional canvas, Rhonda's work is a soothing retreat for introverted souls. The Kilbourne Gallery name is a tribute to Rhonda's great-grandmother, “Grammy Mac” Kilbourne McAlister, and serves as an enduring link to her cherished family heritage.
